Activities & Clubs

4th & 5th Grade Peak Singers: Peak singers is for 4th and 5th graders looking for a more challenging, social, and fun music experience to share with their fellow classmates. We will dive into music beyond what is learned in class, and push the boundaries of where our students' music abilities lie. Peak Singers will create a space of musical freedom, vulnerability, and excellence to propel students above and beyond.

5th Grade Art Club: This Art Club is a place for our 5th grade students to explore their creativity and talents through projects that extend the school's art curriculum. Art Club students will get to learn about Flow Art and will create their own on canvas. Students will also gain a deeper learning about ceramics. Our focus will be rich in art history and exploration in an independent style.

5th Grade Garden Club: The Garden Club provides an opportunity for our 5th grade students to learn about plants, and the plant life cycle. It allows for hands on activities such as planting, harvesting, seed collecting and preserving of seeds. This club also offers an authentic, innovative experience to grow indoors with our recently purchased grow towers.

Battle of the Books: Battle of the Books is sponsored by the Clearview Library District, and students are selected through an application process. Teams read eight books chosen by the Clearview Library. To help teams prepare for the Battle, they meet biweekly with their coach during recess. At the end of the school year, teams from across the district come together at the Clearview Library to battle it out!

Be Strong Be Fit: Mountain View hosts the BeStrongBfit (BSBF) Running Club every fall. BSBF is a FREE after school program for 4th and 5th grade girls promoting health, fitness, positive self-esteem and connectedness. Healthy Hearts and Minds has designed the 8-week extracurricular program with sixteen interactive lessons and activities focused on:  Physical and social-emotional wellbeing, healthy nutrition, setting and achieving goals, making responsible decisions, social media and its impact on our well-being, fostering positive relationships and connectedness. The program concludes with a celebratory 2-mile run. This impactful program develops strong, connected, self-assured students and empowers them to live a happy healthy life.

Chess Club: Does your child like to think and solve problems? Do they like to strategize and play games? If the answer is yes, then the Mountain View Chess Club might be just right for them! A Sign Up will be sent out to all parents sometime in the fall. Note: Your child doesn’t need to know how to play chess to participate.

Running Club: Mountain View offers two running clubs throughout the year. In the fall, we offer a girl's running club sponsored by UCHealth, and a Boys Running Club in the Spring. During this club, students will have the opportunity to learn proper running techniques, build endurance, and stay active—all while having fun! In addition to running, students will also participate in a short lesson and discussion about balancing video gaming and screen time with physical activity. We will talk about how staying active helps our bodies and brains feel their best.
